This afternoon (10th November), at the RICS International Valuation Conference, Andy Haldane (Executive Director for Financial Stability at the Bank of England) has been invited to speak on the subject of "IMPACT OF VALUATION ON BANKING STABILITY". This will be followed by a panel discussion. His contribution will cover the mark to market versus mark to model debate, not just for real estate but for all bank activities. It will also be linked to the debate about variable capital adequacy requirements as a means of controlling bank activity in the future. The approach to these matters could have a profound effect on Real Estate markets, not just in the current difficult times, but in the future.
The session commences at 3.30 pm and finishes at 5.00 pm. The venue is the Royal Society of Medicine in Wimpole Street.
Hope to see you there for what promises to be a very lively and topical debate!
